This isn't really about the qcubed site, but we don't have a general forum, so I figured this will have to do.

I know that most of us here have experience with web hosts, and was hoping to solicit feedback from you guys.

Basically we need a high-end solution, where our existing dedicated server is sometimes maxed out, but is also very frequently nearly dead.

I've looked into Mosso (http://www.mosso.com/) and they seem to offer phenominal value, and I love the idea of never having responsiveness issues even when our sites are slammed. I know some of you have used them in the past, and was wondering what comments you have about them.

Other options are slicehost (http://www.slicehost.com), but our disk space usage would put us at the 8Gb slice right off the bat, which means it's about a wash compared to a dedicated server. A Rackspace managed server looks good, but pricey compared to Mosso.
Amazon's EC2 system also looks pretty good, and scalable as needed.

Thoughts?

Hi,

Mosso is a sort of shared hosting, you do not have root access, but you have cloud computing. Mosso is a project of one of the best hosting company.

Slicehost is famous for VPSs, so I would not consider it.

Amazon EC2 you have cloud computing and root access, but not any nice interface. A guy have tested a Java cluster and told me that is has a big internal network latency.

There is Gogrid and other platforms. For instance Akamai seems to be the choice a big corporations, but I think is rather expensive.

I you need only PHP hosting in a cloud environment, Mosso is a good option. If you want the control of the server, Amazon is better.
