Hi brains and enthusiast of qcubed. So i was thinking that this framework really have a lot to offer to the programmers comunity and projects life cycle but... why is so unpoppular ? why nobody knows anything about him ?.

Well i think that the best whay to start is "refreshing" the qCubed image. The name is excelent "qCubed" thats a plus but the website is so simple, no flash, no effects, it kind looks like an old web site like a website of 1994.

Don't you think is time for a new fresh design website ?

Let me know, and count with me.

JMI

Hi,

Thanks for addressing this topic.

I think this is one of the major concerns for the unpopularity of the framework. If we compare it with other frameworks such as codeigniter and cakephp, definately, qcubed has so much more to offer!

It might be the time to revamp the site, any ADMIN looking at this?

Regards,
Cyrus

Hey folks - I sure am no "admin", but I'm a core contributor and I appreciate your feedback. Indeed, we all share the same concern around the popularity level of the framework. I think making QCubed more popular would require more than just a website redesign - but the website redesign would be a good step in the right direction.

Currently, nobody from the core contributor group is looking into this subject. We're just a group of volunteers; we need your help to make this project successful. If you feel the energy to invest into making the website beautiful, we'll help you - give you all the necessary permissions, review your help, collaborate with you, etc. We need your help to make it successful. Will one of you want to spearhead the redesign? The website is built on top of Drupal.

Hey JMI and Alex,

Alex is the god of qcubed as I have taken much help from him lately.

What we need is a fresh look of qcubed, like most other site have at present.

I am experienced of Joomla, and Qcubed otherwise I would have fully taken up this initiative.

Hello,

I personally do not think that the actual webpage is an issue. Firstly, it does not(!) look like 1994. I think the design is actually quite OK. And don't forget that the target audience is hackers not designers.

From my experience I would say that QCubed more urgently needs a better documentation. My external developers always complain about the current one. I think that would have at least a higher priority than a good looking page.

Just an opinion

Cheers

Helge

Take a look at how the Examples site is done (http://examples.qcu.be). There's a ton of examples on many controls - and yet there is functionality that is not explained. One piece you could work on is improving the examples to be more comprehensive. If you were to take this path, you'd need to modify the example file sources (they are a part of the core) and create tickets with patches that provide these sources.

Another path is providing API documentation. Take a look at QControl - it has a ton of documented properties (these show up on the API site and in IDE autocomplete). There are other controls that don't have that. Again, if you were to take that route, you'd need to provide patches with new stuff.

Whatever route you take, I encourage you to go in small chunks - one example file at a time, one control at a time. Submit little chunks of work and see progress quickly!

On our side, we're committed to help you succeed!
