New Contribution Section
Wed, 04/08/2009 - 17:52
Hello folks
I create a new content type called Contribution the idea is use this content type to upload our contributions like new controls, translation or code snippets.
This contributions must be deleted from this listing aftet the contribution will be pass to the core.
Beside I include a new menu download to dowload the core and contribution.
Let know if anyone have doubts or concerns.
Also I configure a WYSIWYG editor to try to do our post more fancy and easy. :P
Enjoy

Very cool. I know that long term we were hoping for each contribution to have it's own SVN repo, ticketing system, etc. Will we be able to migrate from this when the time comes? (Talk to Mike Hostetler for details, I believe he's planing on using the new Project module for Drupal.)
enzo,
I appreciate the effort, but did anyone asked for WYSIWYG? And now if I want to use the code tag or show a php block, I have to switch the editor off because all this is now html and will not process those tags correctly.
Since many of our posts deal with code snippets, this is not a good technique; the richtext editor should not be default. I don't think we need a richtext editor on a message board. Unless is can handle the <?php and <code>
If there is a way to show code in richtext, let me know. I will stop complaining.
maybe. ;)
Enzo, like Vexed said, we need a well-designed system with ticketing, SVN access, and such for each of the plugins. Please remove this new section from the site - we don't want an impression of "just copying what QCodo had". If you want to continue working on it, please move all the links to it **away** from the Downloads page - one of the most visited pages on the site - move it to the "proposed documentation changes" section of the wiki.
Additionally, something happened to the Changelog page - links to it from the Downloads page no longer work (see the downloads page - and there's also a bunch of extrernal links to it). Please investigate if you have a moment.
Thanks!!
Enzo,
I fixed the issues with the Changelog links; I've also moved the Plugins content you started working on into the Project Proposals section under Review. Let's all work on it there, and when we're ready to share it with a wider audience, we'll put a link on the Downloads page.
Thanks!
Hello Alex
I revert the WYSIWYG editor and restore the trac download section.
I the future I will send to Cabal this kind of changes

enzo
Thanks, enzo. I want you to know that we all VERY MUCH appreciate your contributions and think you've been absolutely instrumental to our success. You really took us far ahead with the new theme; don't take the comments in this thread the wrong way.
For somewhat controversial changes like these, it's good for an open-source project to allow a round of feedback / revisions before the changes go live - it makes for a more open, inclusive experience, encouraging everyone to contribute. So I have no doubts that we'll use the stuff you suggested in the near future :-)
Thanks again,
Alex
Hello Alex
Don't worry I understand all we want the best for our baby (qcubed).
Also I modify the front page now the image on the front page adjust depends the monitor resolution, the site request at lest 1024 x 768 I guess is a normal requirement nowadays.
Regards
enzo
That is great.
But what about having a category for plugins and another one for controls in trac as well?
It would be a shame if tickets get dropped only because it is about plugins that not everyone wants in the core.
Regards,
tronics
Added a category for plugins, and a new milestone for plugins as well.
