Just to make sure i'm being clear: my user profile is set to "auto-subscribe".
Two issues I've seen with duplicate email notifications:
1) whenever I post a reply to a thread, I receive a notification about my own posting.
2) whenever someone else posts a reply, I receive several notifications about that reply; I also sometimes get notifications about random messages getting posted on a thread - including the original message that started the thread.
I think the issue was caused by us using the "poor man's cron" module - it was causing timeouts, duplicate emails, and lots of other grief - so we turned the notifications off. If someone can enable the "real" cron and try turning the notifications back on, it'd be great.
I've toned down the message subscription settings.
In your user profile, you should be able to set your individual message preferences.

Has anyone been able to get notifications working yet? It would really be great to have notification, when there's a reply to a post.
Folks - I just turned on email notifications for the forum. Please, if you seen any issues, speak up right away.
